Morning PrayerFather we praise thee, now the night is over; active and watchful, stand we all before thee; singing we offer prayer and meditation; thus we adore thee.
Monarch of all things, fit us for thy mansions; banish our weakness, health and wholeness sending; bring us to heaven, where thy saints united joy without ending. All holy Father, Son and equal Spirit, trinity blessed, send us thy salvation; thine is the glory, gleaming and resounding through all creation. Amen [Words: ascribed to Gregory the Great (540-604); translation by Percy Dearmer (1867-1936)] Prayer of AdorationFather, Son and Holy Spirit, we worship you with gladness
We come before you with songs of joy, For you made us, and we are yours. We are your people, the sheep of your pasture. We enter your gates with thanksgiving, We go into your courts with praise. We bless your name, For you are good Your unfailing love continues forever, And your faithfulness continues to each generation. We give thanks for you became one of us, taking on our humanity and experiencing our very lives - our brokenness, our fears, our failures. But the good news is that by your death you dealt with sin And by your resurrection you began a new humanity, A new creation, uniting all things in the heavens and on the earth to you, In you we have redemption through your blood. You have forgiven all our offenses according to the riches of your grace. You adopted each of us as beloved daughters and sons, Uniting us as one with you and each other. You have made salvation known to us here and now that we may experience eternal life here and now. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, by your power we sing your praise this day And as long as we live. May your glory endure forever. Amen Prayer of AdorationOur Lord God
Triune God Father, Son and Holy Spirit Your divine communion Is our refuge Our shelter Our life source Abiding in your holy communion Is where we are Changed Transported from our views to your views Moved from our ways to your ways From blindness to new sight From hiding to dancing From darkness to light Given eyes to see and ears to hear And hands to do and feet to go Abiding in your holy communion Is where we relax With a deep sigh and Release Abiding in your holy communion Is where the gifts of God are opened And we glimpse your kingdom come Where acceptance, courtesy, and gentleness are esteemed Where we are given courage and extend to others encouragement Where healing is found as if we are suspended in place and time Where creativity thrives Where Love is poured out Where prayer lives Where stillness flows And where Peace dwells Thanks be to you O God For your sweet communion Our greatest delight Amen Prayer of AdorationThe morning guilds the skies
and our hearts awakening cry Let God who is Father Son and Spirit be praised The light beams through the barn wall and the beauty of light and all its rays of colour stops us and says brokenness exists so that light may get in The moonlight floods the fields and casts its moon shadows and yes indeed even in darkness you are there Your light pierces darkness as in the first creation it beams through the cracks in our outer shell the week points in our armour and illuminates our soul directs nourishes Your light pierces our darkness and a new born creation unfolds within us so that your gentleness may be evident to all Your near presence casts out anxiety your near presence is greater than any harmful ray and lightens and brightens our way Nothing separates us from your Love your Love is always and forever your Love never ceases your Love will never end Thanks be to God We give you these moments We give you this day for your glory for nurturing love for planting goodness even as the leaves fall and the soil hardens and the darkness of night lingers longer may your light so shine before us and in us and through us that all may see you God of Love God of all Goodness God of Light Amen Prayers of ConfessionMerciful God, in your gracious presence we confess our sin and the sin of this world. Although Jesus is among us as our peace, we are a people divided against ourselves as we cling to a broken world. The profit and pleasures we pursue lay waste the land and pollute the seas. The fears and jealousies that we harbour set neighbour against neighbour and nation against nation. We abuse your gifts of imagination and freedom, of intellect and reason, and have turned them into bonds of oppression. Lord, have mercy upon us; heal and forgive us. Set us free to serve you in the world as agents of your reconciling love in Jesus Christ. Amen.
God of compassion, in Jesus Christ we behold your transforming light, yet we continue to live in darkness. Preoccupied with ourselves, we fail to see your work in the world. We speak when we should listen; we act when we should reflect. Empower us to live in your light and to walk in your ways for the sake of him who is the light of the world, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen. Prayers for HealingBe still and know that You are God
Be still and know that You are God Be still and know that You are God You are the Lord that healeth me You are the Lord that healeth me You are the Lord that healeth me In You O Lord I put my trust In you O Lord I put my trust In you O Lord I put my trust Amen [Words adapted: anonymous] Healing, Holy Healing, Holy Abiding in me is the Holy Spirit Healing Holy Healing Holy This sweet communion that we share is Healing, Holy Amen Prayers for Daily LivingHoly Spirit, hear us; help us while we sing;
breathe into the music of the praise we bring. Holy Spirit, prompt us when we bow to pray; nearer come and teach us what we ought to say. Holy Spirit, speak now through this book we read; on its living pages shine the light we need. Holy Spirit, give us Jesus’ heart and mind; make us as our Teacher: loving, strong and kind. Holy Spirit, help us daily by your might, what is wrong, to conquer, and to choose the right. Amen. [Words by William Henry Parker (1845-1929)] Evening PrayerSun of my soul, my Saviour dear, it is not night if you are near; oh may no earthborn cloud arise to hide you from your servant’s eyes.
When the soft dews of kindly sleep my wearied eyelids gently steep; be my last thought: How sweet to rest forever on my Saviour’s breast. Watch by the sick; enrich the poor with blessings from your boundless store; be every mourner’s sleep tonight, like infants’ slumbers, pure and light. Come near and bless us when we wake, as through the world our way we take, till in the ocean of your love we lose ourselves in heaven above. Amen [Words by John Keble (1792-1866)] |
